The Northern Virginia Football Coaches Association is proud to announce the 4th Annual Northern Region Classic sponsored by Glory Days Grill. The game, for the second straight year, will be played at West Springfield High. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20th. Admission will be $5.
The game features an East vs. West format. The East team is made up of seniors from the Liberty and Patriot District teams, while the West squad is made up of seniors from the Concorde and National District teams.
West Springfield defensive coordinator Dave Murray will serve as the head coach for the East team, and Westfield quarterback coach Brian Day will lead the West.
This year’s game will highlight many of the Northern Region’s superstars, including future Virginia Tech Hokies Ben Barber (WR Edison, Virginia Tech), and Austin Decker (QB Chantilly, Virginia Tech). Also on the rosters are second-team All-State free safety Tucker Karl (FS Westfield HS, Monmouth Univ.), second-team All-State defensive lineman Chris Leon (DL Westfield HS, Georgetown), Peter Ferrera (RB Robinson, Lafayette College), first-team All-Northern Region lineman Logan Perryman (DL Robinson HS) and Josh Vallejos (WR West Springfield).
The West team holds a 2-1 record in the events’ three-year history. Last year’s game saw an MVP performance from WR/KR Ervin Garner (Oakton, Virginia Tech) when he hauled in five receptions for 180 yards, two touchdowns, and a two-point conversion.
