(April 25, 2009) – Yorktown defeated Wakefield 15-0 in a game at Wakefield on April 24th. Annie Blaine was the starting and winning pitcher, going four innings, with eight strikeouts and allowing only one hit. Kelsey Patterson finished up, going the last two innings, with three strikeouts and allowing no hits. Yorktown had a total of 11 hits, led by Sammi Dowdell and Kimmi Oldham, with three each. Sammi beat out three bunts and scored all three times, with three RBI’s. Kimmi had two infield hits, plus a bases-loaded single, and also had three RBI’s. Emily Panyard had two hits and a walk, and scored twice. Emily is currently on a four-game hitting streak, and has hit safely in all but one game. Kelsey Patterson, Katie Roberts and Caroline Clements had the other Yorktown hits. Sammi Dowdell had the defensive play of the game for Yorktown, with a running catch of line drive in the left centerfield gap.
